living most of my life feeling empty inside. I believe that most people feel lost at times and maybe even empty. Seeing life as being bleak and empty is an awful way to live. In the stories Nineteen Fifty-Five and The Painted Door, Traynor and Ann see life as bleak and empty because they feel they are missing something, they’re trying to fill a void, and they are unhappy with all that they have.
