What to Listen for in Music
Aaron Copland’s book, What to Listen for in Music, seemed helpful to me because it explained music, and where music comes from through the eyes of the composer. The book creates the foundation for an intelligent musical appreciation, beginning with such basics as harmony, melody, and rhythm. It also has implicitly caused me to start asking some questions when I’m listening to a piece of music.

of music are well explained and easy for any person that doesn’t have a music background to read and understand. Music is one of the glorious arts that allows the audience to become consumed with by the sound. It allows you to interpret the composer’s work, and it’s left to the listener to interpret the music. I think Copland’s book is a significant addition to any music lovers knowledge.
