…showed last 75 words of 1442 total…people suffered. A total of 25,700 people were killed and 1,400 were missing. Many soldiers had received little or no pay and came out of the war penniless. 13 of the states went into debt after the war and many people lost all of their money. But as the economy, and health of the people and country as a whole recovered the United States turned into a quite pleasant place to live and still is today.
