The origins of the Ku Klux Klan.
On December 24, 1865, in the law office of Judge Thomas Jones, in the small town of Pulaski, TN, near the Alabama border, six young Confederate veterans organized a secret society. The name was debated over, starting from "kuklid" from Greek word "kuklos, meaning "circle." Then it was broken into two parts, "ku klux." The "klan" part was then added to make the repetitious sound.

…showed last 75 words of 1686 total…a very short period, had conquered all of the State and National authority. It was probably the best laid out secret organization ever planned. The Ku Klux Klan created a great disturbance, for good and bad. Many events that occurred should not be overlooked, however, some were for the good of the South. Many protected people's possessions, land, etc. Many things done by the Klan were extremely hate crimes, which should not be dismissed lightly.
