It was short (relative to the tracheid) with a cylinder-like shape and it had a wide diameter. It seemed to have a thin cell wall, compared to the tracheid. The tracheids were long, in comparison to the vessel member, and were tubular. Its cell wall seemed thicker than that of the vessel member. Both vessel member and tracheids had pits.
