Ireland, but thats about the only major similarity between the movie and the
book. In the story and movie some of the differances are that Shawns home
town is different, the people are different, in more way than one, all in all a

altered by the changes. It is still Shawn marring a red headed spinster and
not getting her rightful dowry untill he is ready to fight for it, in a huge
climatic fight scean that made the movie well worth reading. So if you want
to know more of the difference between the two, read the story and watch
the movie, it's well worth the time.
