In my search for a short story with stranger in the village theme, my finds came up short in the fact that American Authors wrote none of the pieces I enjoyed. But what I did come up with was a wonderful piece about a writer’s interaction with an out of town stranger who ends up saving the day.

…showed last 75 words of 563 total…also be found in the fingersmith. Although the fingersmith is supposedly a criminal, his crimes are justified when he helped the writer by stealing the notebook and gain admiration instead.
Unlike other Roald Dahl's stories, this one ended on a happy note, which is very rare. This did not make the story any less successful. Instead, it makes the reader happy to find out that the horrible policeman was not able to charge the writer.
