dragon is seen as a protector and a destroyer because of the gold that could have torn the country apart to the one man that protected the country’s heart. The dragon in all was more of a destroyer, not only did he destroy land and the man that protecting them. But, he destroyed all the people of the land, now that their great and wonderful Beowulf was now no longer there to protect them.
