It was the only thing that could have crushed Japanese spirits enough to convince them to surrender and that is part of the reason why it was such a strategic move. In convincing the Japanese to surrender, the war basically petered out. Because the war was ended as a direct result to the dropping of the bomb, it was a very good call and it created a Strategical victory in the WAR.
