Sylvia Plath
I chose Sylvia Plath as my poet for this project. She was born
to middle class parents in Jamaica Plain, Boston, Massachusetts
and she wrote her first poem when she was eight. She was what you would call
the perfect daughter. She was popular smart and she won various scholastic
prizes. Her perfection was just a false image because deep down inside side had
many problems that she kept bottled up. Sylvia lost

uses so much abstract language that she makes it seem like her
poems all have triple meanings. In her quote she says, “An arena of yellow eyes
watched the changing shape he cut, Saw white hoofed harden from foot to foot,
saw sprout Goat thorns. Marked how god rose and galloped in that guise.” Now
you tell me what you think she’s talking about. She could be talking about an owl,
goat, man, anything.
