horrible, abusive, and low-paying as this job was, I suffered there for almost three months.
Waitresses quickly came and went, often storming out the door within hours after starting their first
shift. My true regret that summer wasn't that I had the misfortune to apply at Giovanni's restaurant,
but that I didn't follow that well-beaten path to the door much sooner.
