Character Analysis: Nurse Ratched
The infamous Nurse Ratched; the patient’s evil overlord and McMurphy’s archrival. He also reveals that Nurse Ratched is doing only damage to them, and that his own actions (taking them on a fishing trip, hiring prostitutes for Billy) are actually helping the patient’s recovery much more than them being treated in the hospital. Nurse Ratched, however, through a masquerade hiding her corrupt conducts, wins over McMurphy, but not before he has given reason and hope to the patients.
