In my personal opinion, I do believe media violence can definitely have an effect on people. The reason I say this is because there’s many cases that I think shows it does. For example the show Jackass. I was watching 20/20 and there was a story about a kid who accidentally lit himself on fire because he was copying a stunt from there show. This is a good example of the Cathartic effect;

depictions but when I see them I really don’t think much of it because I am so used to seeing it on T.V. This a perfect example of the Desensitizing theory. This means that the tolerance of real-life grows because of media-depicted violence. Today it is very hard to avoid some sort of violent or endangering act on T.V so these different terms and theories could apply to a lot of people.
