Communists and anarchists were stirring trouble for the country, while business was growing into large corporations. Now Americans had more leisure time, so they bought electric items which led to the widespread use of electricity. With the spread of electricity people wanted more technology; they began buying the now basic item, the telephone. People became more lazy, so instead of walking over to the place they wanted to go, they would just use the telephone.
