American came out of the war with about 1 millions casualties, but an almost unscathed mainland. America also emerged as a great power, and a hero. Economically, America had pretty much flushed away the depression, and was doing quite well, although there was a small dip after war due to nervous thinking of US citizens America was about to begin the Long Economic Boom of 1950-1970.
