The 1992 plan, which mainly focused on the Great Lakes region, identified three areas in Northeast America for possible wolf recovery: a large portion of land in northwestern Maine and northern New Hampshire, Adirondack State Park in New York, and a site in eastern Maine. A new recovery plan, specifically for the Northeast, is needed to move wolf recovery forward in this region.
