Gray’s ideas that he tried to convey gave reason to his lacked writing style, which lead to a fitting response to his arguments. Tannen on the other hand kept with a serious more scientific approach in writing, which also lead to a fitting response to her arguments. Both can be said to have achieved there goal and meet their target audience hence both books were best-sellers.
