Gloria Steinem’s piece “Sex, Lies, and Advertising” was a very interesting essay. I had never read any of Steinem’s work, and I quite honestly did not, and still don’t, know much about her, except that she is a feminist. …showed last 75 words of 641 total…see women’s magazines as “cash cows” (254). Simply flip through a copy of Vogue magazine, the entire issue is one big ad. It is disgusting. Women are interested in more than just shopping. Where are the articles? I thought that this essay was a great read; I walked away feeling that I had learnt something and that is what reading is all about. I would be very interested in reading more of Steinem’s work.
