…showed last 75 words of 518 total…I only think that he did it because she was ill and he needed the housework to be done so he tried to make her healthier faster.
I think Eveline preferred it when her mother was alive because if something was wrong she could talk to her mother about it but I don’t think she can do this with her father, “her father was not so bad then; and besides, her mother was alive.”
