We can easily live in our society, and we don't struggle even from those things that somehow cam true, except for, probably, example with North Korea and Soviet Union. I can't really imagine what has to happen to turn the world into nightmare of 1984. Orwell was really scared by rising of dictatorships and war and that is why his predictions were bad.
